"Grieving Our Loss of Democracy": A Timely Call to Confront

In a period of global uncertainty and democratic backsliding, Rev. Dr. Anne Hays Egan's latest book, Grieving Our Loss of Democracy , offers a compelling and much-needed framework for understanding, grieving, and responding to the rise of authoritarianism and fascism in the United States and beyond.

Blending data, story, and spiritual insight, Rev. Dr. Egan takes readers through the stages of grief, denial, anger, bargaining, depression, and acceptance, applying Elisabeth Kubler-Ross's renowned framework to the collective experience of democratic erosion. Drawing parallels to Naomi Klein's Shock Doctrine , she illustrates how destabilizing federal changes mirror devastating societal shocks, leaving individuals and communities grappling with profound losses.

But this is not a book of despair. Instead, Grieving Our Loss of Democracy invites readers to honor their grief, find sustenance in shared experiences, and ultimately transform that grief into purposeful resistance. With real-life stories spanning generations and countries, Rev. Dr. Egan highlights the resilience of people navigating turbulent times, from World War II through today. The book concludes with practical resources, including a toolkit and discussion questions designed for book clubs, activists, and communities seeking connection and strength.

"Democracy's unraveling causes real grief," writes Rev. Dr. Egan. "We must acknowledge the pain, but also channel it into compassion, justice, and the common good."

Grieving Our Loss of Democracy is both a roadmap and a lifeline, an urgent read for citizens, leaders, and communities searching for clarity, courage, and hope amid democratic decline.

Honor the grief. Resist the tide. Reclaim democracy.

Grieving Our Loss of Democracy will be available starting September 1, 2025. Don't miss this timely and transformative book that helps us honor our grief and reclaim our power in the face of authoritarianism.

Image: https://www.globalnewslines.com/uploads/2025/12/1766183100.jpg For many people, a U.S. visa is only the beginning. What they truly want is certainty - the ability to live, work, and plan their future in the United States without expiry dates, renewals, or ongoing fear that a single decision could unravel years of effort. That certainty is called a Green Card. Yet despite its importance, the Green Card [https://larhdellaw.com/] process is often misunderstood. Some believe it is only for

When used correctly, the L-1 visa allows established businesses to expand into the U.S. market, transfer trusted senior staff, and build a long-term American presence without relying on lotteries, third-party sponsors, or speculative investment routes. That description, while true, can be misleading. Its familiarity causes many applicants to underestimate how closely these visas are scrutinised - and how easily an application can be refused. In today's immigration environment, visitor visas are assessed with a level of caution that surprises even experienced international travellers. The rules themselves have not dramatically changed, but how

GEDANKENDUSCHE: Shadows of democracy
In the 1930s, democracy was still young and vulnerable in many parts of Europe. It was seen as a symbol of freedom and progress, but at the same time its rules opened the door to those who wanted to undermine it. Certain political forces used the democratic structures to gain power legally - only to then gradually undermine and ultimately abolish the foundations of this democracy. What do we learn

Social protest burns brighter in Ukraine The popular will to protest against government activity has been seen to rise throughout 2010 and 2011, apparently unaffected by the feeble response to the recent protests of entrepreneurs. Experts state that the majority of protests are emerging in reaction to local authorities disregard for
