WELL KNOWN NOVELIST TO SPEAK AT SCOTCH PLAINS PUBLIC LIBRARY

Noted novelist and magazine contributor, Louisa Ermelino, will visit the Scotch Plains Public Library on Tuesday evening, April 22, at 7:30 pm to speak and sign her books. She will talk about growing up Italian-American in New York’s Little Italy, the setting for her three well-known novels. Ermelino will read from her work, answer questions from the audience, and sign copies of her books, Joey Dee Gets Wise, The Black Madonna, and The Sisters Mallone.

Book review website, Bookreporter.com states, “Ermelino's novels celebrate the power of women, her Italian American ancestry and her New York City neighborhood.”

Currently Reviews Director at Publishers Weekly, Ermelino was formerly Chief of Reporters at Instyle, has worked at Time and People, and has contributed numerous articles and reviews to newspapers and magazines. Recently, she has written movingly of the deaths of her husband and mother in an essay in the anthology, For Keeps: Women Tell the Truth About Their Bodies, Growing Older, and Acceptance. That book and Ermelino’s novels are available to borrow at the Scotch Plains Public Library. Her novels will also be available for purchase and personalization.

Admission to the event is free, but pre-registration is encouraged, as space is limited. Interested persons can register by calling the Scotch Plains library at 908-322-5007, x.204 or by e-mail to library@scotlib.org .

The presentations will be held in the Library’s Community room. All programs at the Library are free and open to all interested participants.
