Los Angeles, CA In a visionary step toward preserving Los Angeles' cultural legacy, Five Points Youth Foundation has launched an initiative to memorialize the 2019 Nipsey Hussle mural located at 1820 West Florence Avenue, in collaboration with King Cre8, the RTN Graffiti Crew, and urban planning partners. The Foundation's President Andrew Williams Jr is exploring ways to add the mural the official Nipsey Hussle Cultural Mapping Guides as part of their effort to promote South Los Angeles as a hub for cultural tourism and community empowerment. The mural, created shortly after Nipsey Hussle's tragic death in March 2019, was originally unveiled during the 3rd Annual "Paint-A-Thon: Redesigning Death Alleys", a community beautification event led by Five Points Youth Foundation in partnership with Professor Marcela Oliva of Los Angeles Trade-Technical College's Architectural and Environmental Design Department. Hosted in August 2019, the event was timed to commemorate the 400th anniversary of the arrival of the first enslaved Africans to British-occupied America in 1619 (Hampton, Virginia).

Located near the high-traffic intersection of Florence Avenue (Metro Bus 111) and Western Avenue (Metro Bus 204), the mural has quietly become a spiritual landmark-representing neighborhood resilience, economic justice, and the enduring impact of Nipsey Hussle's "The Marathon" movement. The artwork features Hussle in profile and was painted with love by street artist King Cre8 and members of the RTN Graffiti Crew, both legendary for transforming city walls into living memorials of cultural expression.

President Andrew Williams Jr. was inspired to elevate the mural's visibility after learning of Metro's August 15, 2025 release of two limited edition Nipsey Hussle TAP cards to honor what would have been the artist's 40th birthday. According to a report by 2UrbanGirls.com, the TAP cards are part of Metro's broader cultural recognition of artists who shaped Los Angeles history.

"Metro's TAP card tribute will show the world that Nipsey's message still rides with the people-literally," said Williams. "Adding our mural to the Nipsey Mapping Guides ensures that the 1820 West Florence Avenue mural becomes a permanent stop on LA's cultural tourism map, both for global visitors and our local community, every single day."

This announcement comes ahead of the August 30, 2025 10th Anniversary Celebration for Five Points Youth Foundation's International Ambassador Delphine "SilkyD" Williams, which will take place at 1820 W. Florence Avenue with a hybrid on-site and Zoom-streamed Opening Ceremony at 2 PM and Awards Presentation at 4 PM. The day will also feature the 10th annual graffiti exhibition curated by King Cre8, affirming his continued legacy of using art as resistance and remembrance.
