Bangladesh Electronic Waste Recycling Market Outlook and Size to 2036

The Bangladesh E-Waste Recycling Market is showing slow but emerging potential between 2018 and 2036. With increasing use of electronic products such as smartphones, computers, TVs, and home appliances, e-waste generation has been growing rapidly in recent years.

Major contributors to e-waste include the telecom and electronics sectors. Telecom operators have launched pilot programs to collect used equipment, but widespread compliance is still developing. The growing mobile and electronics manufacturing market is expected to add to the waste burden significantly by 2036.

A few formal recyclers have emerged in Bangladesh in recent years, including JR Recycling, Azizu Recycling, and Zaman Enterprise. These players have small-scale operations and face logistical and financial hurdles to scale up in a market dominated by informal traders.

The valuable materials recovered from e-waste include copper, aluminum, gold, and rare earth metals. With proper investment and enforcement, Bangladesh's e-waste recycling industry has the potential to generate USD 40 to 50 million annually while significantly reducing environmental damage.

To reach that potential, the sector must improve public awareness, develop secure collection systems, invest in compliant recycling plants, and integrate informal workers into regulated networks. These steps will help Bangladesh meet its national sustainability goals and contribute to a safer, cleaner environment.
