INDIE BAND RUN DOWNHILL RELEASES "THE RATTLER" FROM GRAMMY® WINNER T.J. TROY JULY 18th

The architect and driving force behind indie rock artist RUN DOWNHILL, the band's founder, T.J. Troy announces the release of their highly anticipated album "The Rattler And Other Songs" for the summer of 2025, dropped on July 18th. T.J. Troy, a Grammy-award winning artist and multiple Grammy nominee, showcases his multi-instrumental and compositional talents through and through, highlighting his highly acclaimed songwriting, virtuosic performance, and production skills, giving "The Rattler And Other Songs" a signature sound that is simultaneously timely and timeless.
The first single, "The Rattler" has been gathering momentum on streaming sites and in media since its release this month and is the followup to the band's successful album Nineteen/Twenty from 2022.
Numerous live performances and interviews helped drive the demand for this year's production.
"So many fans have been asking about the next story on the journey of Run Downhill, we felt we needed to carve new paths and explore new sounds and musical experiences," says Troy, adding "nearly all of the instruments were played live in the studio and maintained the energetic performance based passion throughout the album."
As for the band's unique storytelling, they have long held a compelling connection between the songs and graphic comic depictions. It was this successful pairing that brought many new fans of both the band and the album's organic artworks.

"Our YouTube fans are always telling us the comics pull them in and spark the imagination that connects with the songs, " Troy explains. "We felt this time we will just let the music speak for itself, but new fans are encouraged to subscribe and dive into the archives on our colorful youtube channel!"
The evolution of T.J.'s artistry is evident in his performances on multiple instruments on the new single, and across the entire album. Inspired performances pave the way for each musical idea and instrumental composition. This time T.J. plays all drums and percussion, as well as nylon string guitar, steel string guitar, baritone guitar, piano, keyboard synths, vocals, and additionally served on the technical side as engineer and mixing engineer.
When asked about the melodic qualities of this new music, Troy says,
"So much of this album features the baritone guitar as the lead voice...in many ways, the album is built around my voice, whether it manifests through my singing, through the bari, or through percussion. And it's rare for me (undeniably best known as a percussionist) to have a record allow all of these deeply entwined sensibilities to speak so clearly, so deeply tied to that place in my mind where imagination, emotion, and intellect coexist...that's where this music originates and I've worked for years to understand that space, and that's what I hope comes across in the songs."
T.J. is one of the most accomplished world and classical multiple instrumentalists of his generation; when he's not touring, recording, or performing live onstage, he conducts masterclasses, creates online performance video works, and his original compositions continue to gather international acclaim.
