BMAM Expo Asia 2008

BMAM Expo Asia 2008

Bangkok, March 2008 - After it was first announced a few months ago, Building Maintenance & Asset Management Expo Asia 2008 -Asia’s premier trade exhibition and conference for the building maintenance and asset/facility management industry -has already attracted high level of participation interests. International companies such as Carrier, ABB, Sodexo, ISS Facility Services, Property Care Services, TOA Group, as well as leading companies from Singapore, Korea, Australia, etc. have either confirmed or reserved their participation. In fact, exhibition space is now over 50% booked and the event is well on track for a successful launch in Bangkok on 25th - 26th September 2008.

The high level of interests reflects the industry’s growing interest in the Asian market, particularly in Thailand. Bangkok has one of the fastest expansion rates in the world for construction of high rise buildings and real estate developments. The city’s main business districts, residential, commercial and industrial areas are continuously expanding. It has a registered number of over 1,000 skyscrapers and this does not include hundreds of new building projects on stream in coming years.

Bangkok is home to over 170 hospitals, 15 world-class shopping malls, more than 800 condominiums and private apartment buildings, and hundreds of hotels/resorts catering to 15 million tourist arrivals each year. Within Greater Bangkok, there are over 8 large industrial estates with a wide range of manufacturing facilities. Additionally, the city is a key regional MICE destination with over 250,000 sqm of exhibition and convention facilities. One such facility recently outsourced its facility management service worth over 30 million baht per annum.

This market potential serves as the prefect backdrop for the staging of Building Maintenance and Asset Management Expo Asia 2008. Mr. Stuart Winters of Sodexo said “The exhibition provides us with a cost effective marketing platform to win new customers and collect high quality leads, entertain our existing customers, renew relationship with our past customers, showcase and promote our full range of food and facility management services, generate sales, and of course, build our company’s brand image.”

The exhibition is also gaining support from key industry associations such as ASHARE Thailand Chapter, Thailand Facility Management Association, The Building Safety Inspectors and Officers Association, Illuminating Engineering Association of Thailand, The Consulting Engineers Association of Thailand, just to name a few. Mr. Uthai Lohachitranond, President Elect of ASHARE Thailand Chapter commented, “BMAM Expo Asia 2008 is a major event that can represent the latest technology about green concept and sustainability way for building owners, facilities managers, engineers and developers.”

Building owners and managers are also looking forward to attend the exhibition. Mr. Paul Thomson, Chief of Facility Management of the UN in Bangkok said “I will be sending quite a large section of our facilities and property management teams to see what we can learn from this event”. Healthcare facility operator, Mr. Arthit Limpasarn from the Bangkok Hospital Group who manages a chain of hospital facilities in Thailand, added “This event is indeed a must-visit international fair for facility engineers and owners from across the Asia region.”

A highly informative conference is also being planned to be alongside the exhibition. The event’s Advisory Committee panel comprising key industry players agreed that the conference will revolve around the Green Technology/Green Building and Cost Savings themes with educational workshop subjects such as “Initial steps to facility management”, “New technologies for facility management”, “Saving the environment, saving your money”, etc. The full details of the conference topics will be posted on the event website soon.

Mr. Loy Joon How, General Manager of IMPACT Exhibitions Management Co., Ltd., the organizer of this event said “The conference will feature critical topics, issues, trends and technology facing the industry and educational tutorials for building and facility owners and operators to better understand the benefits and importance of proper building maintenance and asset management as the concept of facilities management is rather new for Asia.”

Building Maintenance and Asset Management Expo Asia 2008 is expected to attract over 300 exhibitors and attended by over 3,000 key engineering decision makers, maintenance professionals and building and facility owners from across Asia.
