Historic Victory for Romania: Ionuț Daniel Ciuma Crowned UBF Light Heavyweight European Champion
Băbeni, Vâlcea County, Romania - June 29, 2025 - The Universal Boxing Federation (UBF) proudly announces its newest European Champion, Ionuț Daniel Ciuma, following a decisive victory in Târgoviște, Romania. The 26-year-old boxer made history as the first Romanian to win the UBF Light Heavyweight European Title, delivering a performance that brought pride to his hometown of Băbeni and to Romanian boxing.
The bout featured a clash between two undefeated contenders: Ionuț Daniel Ciuma (7-0-0, 3 KOs) and Mykola Nomerovskyi (7-0-0, 5 KOs) of Ukraine, now residing in Poland. It was Nomerovskyi's first professional fight outside of Poland, adding international weight to the event.
Despite his opponent's knockout-heavy record, Ciuma showcased superior technique, composure, and endurance across eight hard-fought rounds, earning a unanimous decision and improving to 8-0.
Trained by former world champion Leonard Doroftei, Ciuma's historic win is a testament to his relentless work ethic and growing dominance in the division.
In Băbeni, the victory was met with celebration. Mayor Ștefan Bîzîc shared his congratulations:
"Our citizen, Ciuma Ion Daniel, is the first Romanian boxer to win a UBF European title. The city of Băbeni is proud of such a champion."
UBF President Richard Spilotro also praised the significance of the event, the courage of both fighters, and the efforts of all involved:

This landmark achievement not only elevates Ciuma's career but also marks a proud chapter in Romanian sports history.
