Apply now: Free swimming lessons for children at the "Desjoyaux Pool School"

Munich, June 11, 2025 - The application phase for the free swimming courses at the "Desjoyaux Pool School" is now open. Parents can register their children online until June 17, 2025. The courses will take place nationwide in the exhibition pools of participating Desjoyaux exclusive retailers. The aim is to give as many children as possible the chance to learn to swim - safely, playfully and close to home.

Swimming saves lives - one in three children cannot swim

According to the DLRG, one in three children in Germany cannot swim safely after elementary school. Drowning is the second most common cause of death among children - a frightening statistic that Desjoyaux is actively doing something about.

Prominent support from Franziska van Almsick

The initiative has received prominent support: Franziska van Almsick, former world-class swimmer and mother, is involved as patron of the "Desjoyaux Pool School". "Every child should be able to swim - it's not an option, it's a necessity," says van Almsick.

Successful model with growing demand

Demand was already overwhelming in 2024: over 2,100 registrations were met with just 312 course places. The response shows the enormous demand - and the success of the concept. That is why Desjoyaux is once again providing several hundred free swimming course places this year. The courses are run in cooperation with the renowned Sharky swimming school - the only private swimming school in Germany that is officially authorized to award the Seahorse badge.
