This is not your dad's dusty historical drama. Think: 1930s Clueless meets Yellowjackets if it had a meltdown and became a laugh-out-loud buddy comedy in heels.

The Plot? Oh Honey, Buckle Up.

It's 1932, and society princesses Tinsley and Mattie Wilde (played by scene-stealers Lydia Pearl Pentz and Cali Scolari) go from high-society brunch to bushwhacking through bear country when their scheming aunts banish them to the backwoods of Washington State with zero resources-unless you count entitlement and sarcasm as survival tools.

Critics have lauded the movie in preview showings saying things like, "Timothy Hines manages to make a great film, one that works on multiple levels," and "The Wilde Girls is a damn good time. From its likable protagonists to the twists and turns in the adventures in the denst forest of the pacific northwest, the film takes us on a memorable journey."

They're supposed to be "escorted" by a guy named Mr. Button (Matt Silver), but plot twist: he's a hitman. Plot twist #2: they accidentally run him over with his own car. Oops.

Now the girls are stuck deep in the wild, dodging bears, getting chased by bees, and begging a grumpy, off-the-grid mountain man (Teddy Smith) to save them-after they blow up his truck, naturally.

Real Life Filming Was... Insane.

Director Timothy Hines shot the whole thing in the actual wilderness, not some cushy studio lot. Cue the chaos.

"If you're making a movie about rich girls lost in the woods, maybe don't film it in the actual woods," says Hines, who was personally attacked by ground hornets, drowned his phone in rising tides, and got his cast nearly heat-stroked while dodging snakes and coyotes.

Oh yeah, and Cali Scolari discovered mid-shoot she's allergic to mosquito bites the size of horse pills. Mosquitos were like the infected fungus zombies to Cali so the crew was on Mosquito watch for her, especially at sundown.

The Snake. The Bee Swarm. The Heatstroke.

Teddy Smith (Silas Colter) was layered in full cowboy cosplay-wool, long-johns, hat, boots-running through tidal flats in 100+ degree heat while praying not to die in a hidden sinkhole.

"He laid down in the road after a take and just said, 'Tell me if a car is coming. I'm not moving,'" Hines recalls.

Also: Teddy stepped on a massive blue snake. Was it poisonous? No. Was Teddy emotionally scarred? Deeply.
