Anti-Snoring and Sleep Apnea Devices Market Expected To observe

Snoring affects approximately 500 million people across the world and is a notable cause of angst among partners living together. Conventionally snoring was never considered as a serious disorder but more of a hindrance and social embarrassment. However, today snoring is known to be a causative factor as well as symptom of more serious underlying conditions such as sleep apnea. Snoring is also considered to be a symptom of other associated morbidities such as obesity, stress and depression. Sleep apnea is fairly common among people and is diagnosed when there are frequent interruptions in sleep. Shallow breathing or complete pauses in breathing can move a patient from deep sleep to slight sleep. If the condition is left untreated it can lead to lack of oxygen supply to brain and blood followed by a series of cardiovascular disorders such as increased risk of heart attack, daytime sleepiness, loss in productivity, stroke, heart failure and high blood pressure among a host of other problems.

Although direct deaths caused by sleep apnea are extremely rare, the condition results in exponential growth of risk of heart attacks and heart related disorders. The University of Wisconsin-Madison has been studying the effects of sleep apnea in the Wisconsin Sleep Cohort for more than a decade and has reported strong links between sleep apnea and hypertension, stroke and depression. The direct and indirect burden of sleep apnea and snoring is estimated to be around US$ 65 ? US$ 100 billion and include road accidents, workplace accident and loss of productivity, hidden healthcare costs, comorbidities, treatment and reimbursement among other factors. There is a high awareness of sleep apnea and thus affects the growth of sleep apnea devices market very positively. On the other hand, snoring is a relatively new condition being focused on and is anticipated to grow further as diagnosis rate increases.

This report focuses on anti-snoring devices for nasal, oral and other application such as adhesive strips, clips, vents, mandibular advancement devices, expiratory PAP, tongue stabilizer or retainer, electronic wearable and remote monitored devices, chin straps and positional devices. The research also reports analysis of sleep apnea devices such as positive airway pressure (CPAP, BiPAP & APAP), masks & tubing accessories, non-invasive ventilators, adaptive servo-ventilators and humidifiers.

This report estimates the market for anti-snoring and sleep apnea devices in six regions of North America, Europe, Asia-Pacific, Latin-America, Middle-East and Africa. The market varies from region to region based largely on two factors that are awareness of treatment for snoring and sleep apnea, and rate of diagnoses. The latter varies greatly from region to region since snoring in particular is considered a hindrance rather than a medical condition, thus often ignored by family members and patients themselves. The global anti-snoring devices market was valued at US$ 1,201.8 million and is forecast to grow to US$ 1,586.3 million by 2020 at a CAGR of 5.6% from 2016 to 2020. Rising incidence of obesity, work stress supplemented by high awareness of sleep deprivation has ensured North America?s rank in this market. The region contributed to a share of 41.7% for the anti-snoring market and 36.7% for sleep apnea market respectively.
