McCabe's Coffee Launches 100% Compostable Coffee Pods
Key Highlights

McCabe's Coffee launches 100% compostable, plant-based coffee pods.
The new eco-pods break down in just 12 weeks at commercial facilities - leaving no waste behind.
Traditional coffee pods made from aluminum and plastic contribute to pollution and landfill.
The pods are compatible with Nespresso machines, making sustainable coffee accessible to everyday users.

Wicklow, Ireland - McCabe's Coffee, a specialty Irish coffee roaster, is proud to announce the launch of their new range of compostable coffee pods, offering a sustainable, eco-friendly option for coffee lovers across Ireland. The new product line is compatible with Nespresso machines and is designed to make enjoying coffee at home more environmentally responsible without compromising on taste.
Each year, billions of single-use coffee pods end up in landfill. In the EU alone, over 39,000 capsules are consumed every minute, with only a fraction recycled due to complex materials and contamination issues
With sustainability at the forefront of McCabe's Coffee's mission, these compostable pods are made from plant-based materials, ensuring they can break down naturally in commercial composting facilities. This launch is an exciting development as McCabes continues to grow its product range beyond its traditional offerings of premium coffee beans and ground coffee.
"Our mission is to make sustainable coffee choices accessible to everyone," said Stephen McCabe, owner of McCabe's Coffee. "As part of our commitment to sustainability, we wanted to offer our customers an alternative to the plastic and aluminium pods that have become commonplace in the coffee industry. Our compostable coffee pods are designed to meet the highest environmental standards, ensuring that you can enjoy a premium coffee experience while helping to reduce waste. Our coffee pods meet EN 13432: European standard for compostability."
The compostable pods offer several benefits over traditional coffee capsules:
Eco-friendly: Fully compostable at commercial facilities in 12 weeks.

Less Waste: Unlike aluminium pods, which are notoriously difficult to recycle, these pods break down naturally, reducing landfill waste.

High-quality Coffee: Crafted from McCabes' signature blend of freshly roasted coffee, offering an unparalleled coffee experience with every cup.

Sustainable Choice: A step toward making every coffee break a more sustainable one. 71% of Irish consumers prioritise sustainable product purchase.

Speaking about the launch, Stephen McCabe said, "In Ireland, we see a growing demand for sustainable products, and we are proud to lead the way with a product that is both high-quality and eco-friendly. Compostable coffee pods can be one of the most sustainable ways to enjoy coffee, and we're thrilled to offer this to our customers."
The new McCabe's Coffee Compostable Coffee Pods are compatible with Nespresso machines, providing an easy and convenient brewing method for customers looking to make a greener coffee choice. Available in McCabes Coffee's online store, the compostable pods are part of an ongoing effort to offer coffee lovers an environmentally-conscious option that supports a circular economy.
Currently we offer a single Coffee Pods pack of 18 pods and a wholesale coffee pods product offer of 4 boxes.
