Dallas Founder Lions Club Expands Membership and Service, Honoring a Century of Impact
The Dallas Founder Lions Club is proud to announce a bold new chapter of growth, revitalization, and community engagement. With a diverse membership now close to 80 individuals, the club continues to expand its legacy of service while deepening its impact across Dallas.As one of the oldest Lions Clubs in Texas and among the original clubs that helped launch what is now a global network of nearly 50,000 clubs and 1.4 million members, the Dallas Founder Lions Club remains deeply committed to its motto: "We Serve."
Over the past year, members have strengthened the club's focus on projects aligned with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), supporting areas such as hunger relief, environmental sustainability, health and wellness, and youth empowerment. Recent highlights include providing free vision screenings and mobile eye care clinic services at several Dallas schools and facilities serving unhoused communities. The club has also organized environmental cleanup efforts at Dallas area parks and supported partnerships like Sleep in Heavenly Peace to provide beds for children in need.

Adding to its revitalization efforts, the Dallas Founder Lions Club has also expanded its highly regarded community speaker series. The club hosts engaging programs at its twice-monthly meetings, welcoming influential leaders from Dallas' government, education, business, and nonprofit sectors. Recent featured speakers have included Council Member Omar Narvaez, former Mayor Pro Tem Adam Medrano, Dallas College El Centro President Dr. Bradford Williams, Dallas ISD Superintendent Stephanie Elizalde, School Board Trustee Joe Carreon, Japan-America Society Executive Director Beckie Callahan, author Sol Villasana, Downtown Dallas Inc. Director Juan Galvan, journalist Rena Pederson, Dr. Marc Diamond of UT Southwestern Medical Center, Dr. Sandi Pruitt of the Harold C. Simmons Comprehensive Cancer Center, Dallas County Treasurer Pauline Medrano, and Judge Audrey Moorehead.
This speaker series reflects the club's commitment to civic education, leadership development, and fostering connections that drive positive change in Dallas.

Founded in 1916, the Dallas Founder Lions Club is one of the oldest Lions Clubs in Texas and among the original clubs that helped launch Lions Clubs International, now the largest service organization in the world. The club meets in Downtown Dallas, just blocks from the site of Lions Clubs International's first convention in 1917. Dallas Founder Lions support causes including vision, hunger relief, environmental protection, youth empowerment, and health initiatives.
