Basketball Programs That Transform Lives

San Marcos Basketball is a local non-profit competitive basketball organization in San Marcos, California. Volunteer coaches work on emphasizing the role of sports in fostering community spirit, character development, and opportunity for local youth and those living in the surrounding communities. Every elementary, middle, and high school boy or girl who wants to learn to play basketball on a competitive level is welcome to join our teams. Our basketball practice is focused on developing fundamental basketball skills, teamwork, coordination, developing playing strategies, and a healthy perspective on competition.

A Mission of Passion on the Court

At its core, San Marcos Basketball is about more than athletic success. The organization's mission is to use basketball as a platform to instill values of teamwork, discipline, and leadership while providing resources and opportunities at as little cost as possible for the players. We offer practices 3-4 times a week, organize basketball camps, and play in all basketball seasons. It's all about empowering the next generation through sports:

1. Basketball Camps: San Marcos Basketball's camps are also mentorship programs aiming to provide more than just technical training. These camps emphasize essential life skills such as communication, problem-solving, and resilience. Participants learn the importance of perseverance and teamwork both on and off the court under the guidance of expert trainers, helping them build confidence and self-esteem and setting them up for success in all areas of life.

2. Scholarship Program: At San Marcos Basketball, we highly appreciate supportive parents and families who come to see our games and encourage the players to do their best. With the community's involvement and help, we offer partial or full scholarships, allowing players to train and play in games at almost no cost. This initiative alleviates financial burdens and opens doors to opportunities that might otherwise be out of reach, empowering youth to achieve their academic and athletic aspirations.

3. Community Outreach: Anyone who wishes to play competitive basketball in our teams can join our free tryouts at San Elijo Middle School. We have two teams: the San Marcos Thunder, which is comprised of 4th/5th/6th/7th-grade boys, and the San Marcos Flames, which is comprised of 7th, 8th, and high school girls.

"We are a competitive travel basketball team with a European and American approach to developing players in a positive environment. Our players who join our competitive teams get to play tournaments and league games in San Marcos. We practice 3-4 times weekly and play year-round for long-term development and a family culture approach. We keep our teams small, with 8-9 players per team, to allow our players to get maximized playing time. We have tournament teams only for very committed and serious players. Our teams play A and B division games."
