Chairperson of Taipei 101, Yeong-Chieh Chia, to Throw Ceremonial First Pitch at This Year's AI Taiwan Baseball Event

The annual "Taiwan Day" event hosted by the New York Mets, with over 20 years of history, will take place on the evening of May 24, 2025. The event will feature a game between the home team, the New York Mets, and the visiting Los Angeles Dodgers. Just like last year, the event will spotlight the theme "AI Taiwan." The theme "AI" not only refers to Artificial Intelligence, but also echoes the Chinese word for "love", symbolizing the deep affection and support of the Taiwanese diaspora for their homeland. It also pays tribute to the many outstanding Taiwanese talents who are making their mark in AI. This year's event is expected to draw thousands of overseas Taiwanese and international students, and the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office in New York will invite diplomatic representatives from various allied nations to join, enhancing Taiwan's international visibility.

Ms. Chia, known for her longstanding dedication to public service and sports promotion, embodies professionalism, congeniality, and a global perspective. Together with Taipei 101, she is the best ambassador to showcase Taiwan's innovation, vitality, and cultural confidence. Coincidentally, earlier this year, Taipei 101 hosted the "Dreams Take Flight" exhibition featuring the ball from Shohei Ohtani's record-setting "50 Home Runs and 50 Stolen Bases" season-a ball purchased by a Taiwanese entrepreneur for NT$140 million. This exhibition serves as a significant symbol of U.S.-Taiwan sports and cultural exchange. Shohei Ohtani will also represent the Los Angeles Dodgers in a game on May 24, adding further significance and historical value to the event.

Ticket sales are booming-the co-hosting Taiwanese Chambers of New York and New Jersey and the Junior Chamber chapter have repeatedly released additional tickets due to high demand. As of April 9, over 1,500 tickets have already been sold.
