Berlin, 10.04.2025 - Sustainability is playing an increasingly important role in the economy and offers companies tangible benefits: from cost reduction to better positioning in competition to greater attractiveness as an employer. The Chamber of Industry and Commerce (IHK) Mittlerer Niederrhein has undergone a sustainability certification process and has been awarded the "ROBIN GUT Sustainability Seal" in gold. The seal has now been presented to IHK Managing Director Jürgen Steinmetz and IHK sustainability expert Coco Büsing by Dieter Könnes, founder of the environmental organization "ROBIN GUT", and Frank Mutschke, Managing Director of DGQA - Deutsche Gesellschaft für Qualitätsanalysen mbH.

"As an IHK, we take responsibility and focus on sustainable structures. At the same time, we want to show our member companies and other IHKs that sustainable management is a key success factor," says Steinmetz and Büsing adds: "The certification process was demanding and very instructive. We learned a lot about ourselves and received valuable tips on how we can position ourselves even better."

The "ROBIN GUT Sustainability Seal" is awarded to companies and institutions that have implemented outstanding measures in all three areas of sustainability - environmental, social and economic. "The award confirms the comprehensive commitment of the IHK Mittlerer Niederrhein to environmental awareness, social responsibility and a sustainable economy," emphasizes Könnes. "With this certification, the IHK is setting a clear benchmark for the entire regional economy: sustainable management not only creates added value for society, but also increases competitiveness." For small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in particular, sustainable action opens up new opportunities - be it through more efficient use of resources, compliance with regulatory requirements or a stronger position with employees, customers and business partners.

"With the IHK Mittlerer Niederrhein, a key economic organization has been awarded the ROBIN GUT sustainability seal at the Gold level - this underlines the high importance of sustainable corporate management," explains Frank Mutschke, Managing Director of the DGQA. "This certification shows that sustainability is not just an additional task, but a central component of modern corporate management and economic success. We look forward to supporting other CCIs and companies in making their sustainable development visible to the outside world."

About the sustainability seal: The "ROBIN GUT Sustainability Seal" is only awarded to companies that achieve outstanding results in all assessment areas. Among other things, the DGQA analyzes how companies design sustainable processes, assume social responsibility and act in an economically responsible manner.
