Salvation Army of Broward County Food Pantry Shelves Critically Empty-Community Urged to Help Refill Supplies

Fort Lauderdale, FL (April 1, 2025)- The Salvation Army of Broward County is making an urgent appeal to the community as its food pantry shelves are bare. Due to recent changes in government programs, essential support from partnering agencies has been significantly reduced, limiting the organization's ability to serve individuals and families experiencing food insecurity.

Each Thursday from 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m., The Salvation Army provides grocery assistance to households in need-many of whom are facing difficult financial choices.

"Families shouldn't have to choose between keeping the lights on or feeding their children," said Major Juan Guadalupe, Area Commander of The Salvation Army of Broward County. "We're asking for the community's support now more than ever."

The organization calls on individuals, corporations, and civic groups to help restock the pantry and provide critical relief to neighbors in need.

"Food insecurity continues to impact working families, seniors, and individuals across our community. With pantry shelves empty, we rely on the kindness and compassion of our neighbors to help us meet the growing need," said Major Juan Guadalupe, Area Commander of The Salvation Army of Broward County.

Pasta
Beans
Canned fruits & vegetables
Rice
Bread
Juice
Oatmeal
Jelly
Mac & Cheese
Canned soup
Dry potatoes
Canned meats & tuna
Pasta sauce
Dry cereals
Peanut butter
Granola bars
Chili
