A New Fusion of Korean Folk Music to Be Performed in Germany, the Home of Classical Music

K-Culture continues to expand beyond popular entertainment, reaching global audiences with traditional Korean culture. Lim Yihwan, also known as BIG VIOLIN PLAYER, is scheduled to perform his reinterpretation of traditional Korean folk music, titled MINYO CELLO, at the upcoming apr 27th and 29th Lange Nacht Festival in Germany. The performance will take place at Yenidze Theater and the Labortheater der Hochschule fur Bildende Kunste Dresden (the experimental theater of the Dresden University of Fine Arts).

This upcoming performance has been selected as part of the Fringe Program, one of the main initiatives of Paju Fair_Book & Culture, hosted by the Publication City Culture Foundation.

Launched to provide a platform for creators to realize their artistic visions and to offer citizens access to high-quality cultural content, the Fringe Program received strong attention even in its inaugural year, attracting over 50 applicants. Among them, MINYO CELLO by Lim Yihwan and Rotation by POS were selected as the final award-winning works. The selected teams will receive support for their international expansion, including airfare, promotional marketing costs, and expert consulting.

Lim Yihwan expressed his anticipation for the upcoming performance, stating, "While content rooted in Korean tradition may face certain limits in global expansion, I believe true cultural exchange happens when we embrace differences and create synergy through contrast and collaboration."

Paju Fair_Book & Culture is a global content market and multidisciplinary cultural fair that introduces and exports diverse literary and artistic content inspired by books. By uncovering and promoting performance content derived from literature, the fair supports overseas performances and international content expansion, ultimately contributing to the growth of the K-Content industry.
