Medical Tourists Have New Concierge
The biggest expat community of Americans and Canadians outside of the US and Canada—the Lake Chapala Riviera—now has a local medical / dental concierge.DocTours opened its doors October 1, 2016. The young company offers affordable, all-inclusive lodging for its clients in Ajijic (Chapala lakeside) Mexico. Founders Deborah VanArsdel and Jeffery J. Smith are on-site to personally guide clients throughout their stay.
Ms. VanArsdel—a former nurse inspector of medical facilities for the State of California—visited and vetted the lakeside dentists, doctors, and surgeons, focusing on those who enjoy the best reputations among visitors and expat residents.
The caregivers on the DocTours roster have all the requisite credentials, experience on both sides of the border, comforting interpersonal skills, and fluency in English. Yet they charge rates well under half what their counterparts charge in “El Norte” (North of the American-Mexican border).
Before and after their medical appointments, clients of DocTours have the entire riviera panopoly to enjoy—great restaurants, open-air markets, live music of all genres, live theatre, inspiring views, hiking trails to a waterfall, bike lanes along a tree-lined boulevard, tennis courts, golf courses, spa ministrations, power and sail boating, and much more.
Redirecting one’s medical dollars to the Chapala riviera, one can enjoy Mexican “medi-sun” while healing on holiday. It’s like having the northern medical establishment pay for one’s next vacation—and then having substantial savings left over.
