Student Plants Pixels in the Streets

Dortmund, 25th January 2006: “Just in time for the initial game of the World Championship on June 6, 2006 in Munich we will present virtual advertisements shaped as bill boards to the general public,” Heiko Martini, proprietor of the website www.webxdream.com announces.

Following the British born Alex Tew’s surprising success to launch web-based advertising, Mr Martini has not only picked up this idea but developed it into a solid business.

“My concept basically consists of two phases,” Mr Martini explains. “Selling advertising space along the principle of ‘milliondollarhomepage’ means that vendors may place pictures, graphs, or logos which may serve as links to the vendor’s own homepage.
The second phase will be used to place the full advertising on real bill boards.” Mr Martini, a 27 year old student of mathematics continues to remark that “blowing-up the small computer designs does preserve their original charm.”

Yet, there is that small self-afflicted impediment: “To realise the project at least 10 p.c. of the available space must be sold, necessary to cover the considerable expense of the bill boards in the four World Championship Cities.” As a security Mr Martini guarantees cash refund.

Up to now a small number of companies interested in this project is lacking, counting from 1st January when the first sale of a web-portal took place.

If success will be friendly to the student of mathematics, he will put the completed bill board on auction (e-bay) and donate the money to a charitable organisation.
