Sundarban an Ideal Place to all of us

Sundarban is formed by the confluence of three big rivers the Ganga, the Brahmaputra, and Meghnarivers. It is one of the famous deltas in West Bengal, India, which has 10,000 sq. km of land. As these rivers are directly connected with the Bay of Bengal the riverside lands are suitable for mangrove trees. Drinking water is more salty than the normal water. Hence, mangrove trees can be grown smoothly. Now, the mangrove forest in Sundarban is the largest mangrove forest in Asia. So, many wild animals including dangerous tigers and birds have been living here happily for many years. To keep this in mind Sundarbans National Park is developed as a UNESCO World Heritage site.

Livelihood in Sundarbans

The major income source in Sundarban is a collection of fish, crabs, wood, honey, and other forest products that are made naturally. Although, many people have made themselves highly educated and doing their jobs in both the government and private sector also most people depend on forests and rivers for their livelihood. Many of them do cultivation. All people in Sundarbans believe themselves "Maa Bana Bibi" have been protecting from the most dangerous wild animals. So, they start their day by keeping the name of "Maa Bana Bibi" in mind. Now, both the West Bengal government and the Central government provide many developing works in Sundarban to increase the economic condition and safety.

Now Sundarban is a tourist place.

Sundarban is a top-line tourist place in West Bengal with full of nature. Most tourists come to Sundarban for the Mangrove forest and the royal Bengal tigers. But when they reach Sundarban they are confused about making a schedule for visiting the sightseeing because there are many sightseeing available in Sundarban. You can enjoy houseboat riding, fire camp, watching wild animals closely, local paddy camp, local cultural program, Sundarban National Park, and many more. Many ancient temples are also present in Sundarban which can give you historical knowledge. There are many hotels and resorts available in Sundarban with full security. Normally, the temperature in Sundarban feels less than 4 to 5 degrees than in other parts of West Bengal. The most pleasant weather for tourists is September to Middle of the April.

Role of Mangrove Forest in Sundarbans

Mangrove forest plays a vital role in Sundarbans. It not only gives shelter to the wild animals but also gives full protection to Sundarban. It is seen that, most of the time cyclone made landfall in Sundarban which had the origin in the Bay of Bengal. However, mangrove forests reduced the destruction as expected. So, all the things can be restored in a short period. For example, in 2007 Cyclone Sidr damaged 40% of Sundarban, and in 2009 Cyclone Aila damaged 60% of Sundarban but the nature queen Sundarban got back its nature within 5 to 6 months. Similarly, on 26 April 2019, Cyclone Fani damaged lots of valuable properties. Mangrove forest saves Sundarban all the time. As a result, it generates more revenue among the tourist spots in West Bengal.

Water is the major transportation medium.

Rivers are the major transportation medium in Sundarban because all the major parts are connected with rivers. So, You have to travel by boat or a houseboat. Most ferries are maintained by the government of West Bengal.
As Sundarbans share its border with India and Bangladesh, Security personnel like BSF are appointed here for the best safety.

We have to learn a lot from Sundarban to survive in this world from both natural and artificial calamity.
