Vehicle and Engine Management System Monitoring with GW-7228

Engine management system is a build-in system to control and monitor the status of engine, such as engine speed, oil temperature, coolant temperature, oil pressure and other engine parameters. Engine manufacturers always integrate EMS system into engines for diagnostics purposes. EMS is communicated over CAN protocol with SAE J1939 bus. In order to read the engine parameters on computer, users must use protocol converter/ gateway to convert CAN bus to other protocol and bus.

GW-7228 is one of the best protocol conversion solution to read J1939 data. It is a J1939 to Modbus RTU Gateway from ICP DAS USA. It allows data communication between Modbus RTU and J1939 CAN devices. supports PDU1, PDU2, broadcast and destination specific type of J1939 messages. Modbus RTU master can request data from J1939 slave that able to monitor the status of engines. This application are widely used in diesel power-train application, In-vehicle networks for trucks and buses, truck-trailer connections, fleet management systems, on board diagnostics, vehicle automation, and other EMS systems. GW-7228 utility software is provided to configure the parameters and easy to use.

GW-7228 utility software has a simple interface that can configure the module to read specified information. Modbus and J1939 communication parameters can be set on the top helf of the interface. The bottom half section is the J1939 device input/output table. Entered J1939 register will automatically convert to Modbus address. PC, PLC, or other devices can access the data through Modbus RTU(RS-232 port) from GW-7228.

If you have other J1939 requirements or have some questions, we can certainly help you to choose the best solution. Please call our technical support team at (310) 517-9888 X102

Distributed Data Acquisition And Control System with GW-7472
Distributed data acquisition and control system is widely used in all industrial fields. It is used for implement complex and costly applications. In a single control system, it involves many sub-systems, communication devices, data acquisition modules, and other I/O devices. They usually communicate over different protocols. Gateway or protocol converter would be the key “translate” element between two protocols. Compare to traditional centralized SCADA system, distributed data acquisition and
