03-05-2008 01:16 PM CET | Business, Economy, Finances, Banking & Insurance

Press release from: TargetGov

Baltimore, MD. The national teleconference to address specific strategies for Non-Profits, Grants and Government Contracting will be held Thursday, April 10, 2008 from 1:00 to 2:00 EST. Business development is a necessity for non-profit organizations and the federal government can be a rich resource for funding through either grants or contracts for products and services. Federal grants exceeded $16 billion last year, while all contracts exceeded $300 billion. Attend this teleconference to learn how a not-for-profit organization can take advantage of grants and business opportunities available through the federal government.

Two speakers will bring practical experience to the teleconference and relate how their organizations have grown in this environment. Mr. Richard Barnard President of Arundelton Consulting has over 37 years of experience in the non-profit community and was directly responsible for developing federal contracting at Melwood, a not-for-profit Community Rehabilitation Program. Melwood has been considered the vendor of choice for over 60 federal, state, and commercial service contracts and exceeds $40 million in contracts annually. These include NASA, Department of Agriculture, United States Treasury, Federal Bureau of Investigation, Smithsonian Institution, BWI Airport, The Kennedy Center, three branches of the U.S. Military, and the General Services Administration. His practical advice will give your organization a jump-start to contracting in this selective market.

Mr. Roger London is currently the Innovation Economy Program Director at Chesapeake Crescent Leadership Council. Prior to joining Crescent, Mr. London was Director of Technology Scouting at the Chesapeake Innovation Center (CIC). The CIC is a program of the Anne Arundel Economic Development Corporation, a not-for-profit corporation that provides economic development services for Anne Arundel County, Maryland. Mr. London brings a unique perspective to the teleconference by addressing how this organization is a business incubator that serves as a hub of technology commercialization to generate new business formation. One of the focuses of the CIC is the development of firms specializing in homeland security technology, the first in the nation with this focus.

Gloria Berthold, national government business development expert, will address the strategies and steps needed to develop the grants and contract opportunities for non-profits.

The teleconference format makes participation simple as only a telephone is needed. Attend from desk or cell phone. There is no wasted travel time or related expenses. Attendees have direct access to the speakers and the exclusive 60 + page TargetGov Teleconference Toolkit created specifically for this teleconference and delivered electronically after registration.
