Born Wade Douglas in Brown's Hall, St. Catherine, Jamaica, Rasta Blacspade discovered his love for reggae at the young age of six. He balanced music with his education, attending Brown's Hall Primary School before moving on to Tacius Golding High School, where he earned a Business Diploma while simultaneously refining his musical skills.

Although he initially struggled to gain traction in Jamaica's competitive reggae scene, his break came when he moved to Kingston and was invited into the studios of reggae legends Luciano, Al Campbell, Steele, and Cleavee.
