Award-Winning Joy: 'Lucy and the Lake Monster' Captures Best Family Film Award at Cannes
Cannes, FRANCE - January 31, 2025 - "Lucy and the Lake Monster," an indie film about a young girl and her grandfather's search for the Lake Champlain sea serpent "Champ," has made waves by winning the Best Family Film award at the Cannes World Film Festival. This is the film's fourteenth festival award in just four months.

Written and directed by Richard Rossi, and co-written by retired public schoolteacher Kelly Tabor, the film blends adventure and heartfelt family dynamics.

"Though shot in New York, it's European in its ethos, focusing on the connection between Papa (Richard Rossi) and his granddaughter, Lucy (Emma Pearson)," Juliette Rosseau, festival journalist, said. "Like the neorealist Italian film "The Bicycle Thief," which was carried by the relationship of a father and son, the connection between Rossi and Pearson carry the movie."
