Meiraku Corporation Acquires NIDEC LAMDA Hybrid Additive Manufacturing System

Ritto, Japan - January 17, 2025 - Meiraku Corporation, a leading provider of metal machining and machine tool assembly solutions, has acquired a LAMDA2000 Hybrid Additive/Subtractive 3D system from NIDEC MACHINE TOOL. Installation of the advanced manufacturing system is scheduled for completion in February 2025.
The LAMDA2000 empowers Meiraku Corporation with enhanced capabilities for producing complex components with intricate surfaces. This hybrid system seamlessly integrates additive and subtractive processes, enabling the 3D printing of metals, including reactive materials, without the need for an inert chamber.
With a generous build envelope of 2,000mm x 1,500mm x 1,000mm, the LAMDA2000 opens doors to manufacturing previously unachievable components. Equipped with full five-axis subtractive machining and 3D metal printing capabilities, the system incorporates a unique local shield nozzle and advanced monitoring feedback functions to ensure high-quality and stable metal printing.

Key Features of the LAMDA2000 Hybrid System:
• Monitoring and feedback: Controls the melt-pool in real time to improve metallurgical results and geometric accuracy.
• Local shielding for reactive materials: Ensures oxygen exclusion and allows printing of reactive materials such as titanium and aluminum without an inert chamber.
• Five-axis control: Enables additive fabrication and subtractive machining at any angle with rotary table and trunnion.
• Compact head design: Provides easy access to the nozzle and workpiece.
The LAMDA Series, continuously evolving since its introduction in 2019, has seen significant advancements. These include the development of a second-generation shield nozzle, the launch of the LAMDA500 five-axis additive machine, the introduction of the LAMDA5000 with a gantry-type direct-action mechanism, and the integration of an AI-based printing layer status checking function. Recently, NIDEC delivered a LAMDA system with an impressive five (5) meters of X-axis travel, demonstrating its commitment to large-scale additive manufacturing and component repair solutions.
