John W. J. Snyder appointed executive director of the Olympic Peninsula Travel Association (OPTA)
Dan Youra president and CEO of the Olympic Peninsula Travel Association (OPTA) announce the appointment of John W. J. Snyder as the new executive director of the 75 year old Olympic Peninsula marketing organization.John brings a fresh new prospective with a professional background in sales and marketing, He is dedicated to promoting the area and providing our clients with superior customer service. His experience in new technologies such as the Internet and wireless communications will bring a modern marketing approach to the OPTA.
John gained his experience working with corporate icons such as Hilton Hotels, Montgomery Wards, Ford Motor Co., Target and the investment firm Dain Rauscher.
Mr. Snyder is a Washington native and a resident of Port Ludlow, where he lives with his wife, Elena, and their two small children, Naomi and Nathan. Born in Monroe, he grew up on the Olympic Peninsula in Port Angeles, Sequim and Port Townsend.
John is very passionate about helping to improve the community and will be working hard with local city, county, and state government officials as well as private business owners to help build the bring visitors to the Olympic Peninsula and improving the economic scene of the region. The Olympic Peninsula Travel Association was formed bye 33 prominante Olympic Peninsula business owners after the completion of the Olympic Peninsula Loop in 1932. Incorporated in 1933 the OPTA was first hailed the Olympic Peninsual Resort and Hotel Assoc. Later in 1967 changed to the Olympic Peninsula Travel Association to help broaded the scope of the organization beyond just resorts and hotels. Over the years the OPTA has printed a total of 74 Olympic Peninsula Direcotories to help guide visitors to OPTA mambers doors. Today 75 years later OPTA still prints it's directory but has also embraced modern technology with internet and sms marketing as well. We paln to change the face of the industry and set a new standard for attracting visitors to our region.
