During the hour-long patrol, the team caught a fleeting glimpse of a Yangtze finless porpoise leaping out of the water, but unfortunately, they were unable to capture it on film. Despite this, the experts remain optimistic about the species' recovery. Once on the brink of extinction, the Yangtze finless porpoise, an ancient species of the Yangtze River basin, has shown remarkable signs of progress in recent years thanks to concerted conservation efforts.
The mission was documented on video. On December 24, the video titled "Rebirth of the Yangtze Finless Porpoise: A Chinese Model for Global Endangered Species Conservation" was officially released, jointly produced by Hubei Radio and Television Station and the Hubei Provincial Forestry Bureau.

This mission underscores Hubei Province's ongoing commitment to the protection of the Yangtze finless porpoise. The research conducted provides valuable data for future conservation strategies.
