Isabella Forum launches inaugural event in London for women to better understand personal finance and investing
1 November 2016 – LONDON – Female finance network Isabella Forum officially launched last week with a day-long event in London featuring high-profile women speakers from financial planning, wealth management, and investment arenas. Themed "The Journey Begins with You", the inaugural Isabella Forum event brought together nearly 100 guests from finance, industry, media and tech backgrounds. The guests took part in various discussions and shared advice on setting and achieving personal financial goals throughout each stage of life.
From identifying financial dreams and realities, understanding the practical fundamentals of investing, to finding the right financial advisor, the conference covered a range of critical money topics for women. Headline speakers Ruth Sturkey, founder of financial planning consultancy The Red House, and Annabel Watson, portfolio manager at C Hoare & Co., delivered keynote talks, followed by a panel discussion comprised of diverse financial advisors, and in-depth breakout sessions moderated by topic experts. A panel of invitees shared their personal struggles and successes with balancing money decisions to close out the event, initiating further sharing and networking amongst guests.
“With women juggling so much to do every day, we don’t get much time to sit down, think and plan our financial futures,” explains Grace Maa, Isabella Forum co-founder and former Barclays private asset manager. “There's a real need for women to be able to share information on how to handle money decisions. This event wasn't about selling women products or services. It was about women helping and supporting each other by passing forward their personal money insights and experience.”
Isabella Forum aims to help women take active control of their financial future. Organised by women for women, Isabella Forum enables women to speak openly about money and to access a community of like-minded women for honest, practical money management advice without sales pressure from advisors. Last week’s event kicked off the first in a series of Isabella Forum conferences and seminars for women to engage in open, honest conversation around money management.
“We’re pleased with the fantastic response we received following our first event– but we’re even more delighted to see Isabella Forum play a vital role in encouraging women to change their behaviors: by taking steps now to secure their financial future,” says Jennie Byun, Isabella Forum co-founder and former JPMorgan investment banking analyst.
“Whether it’s having enough for retirement, starting a business, or funding children's educations, our hopes and dreams and futures are all worth planning for! Isabella Forum helps women understand the practical implications of how to make their financial dreams become their financial realities," says JennaCardone, Isabella Forum partner and former HSBC wealth manager.
