The China Pavilion of the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification was opened grandly, shining on the international stage of desertification control

On December 2, the field of global desertification control gathered in Riyadh, the capital of Saudi Arabia. The 16th Conference of the Parties to the United Nations Convention to Combat Desertification (COP 16) opened here, playing the strongest international voice in the fight against desertification. On the same day, the opening ceremony of the high-profile China Pavilion attracted representatives, experts and scholars as well as environmental activists to learn from Chinas remarkable achievements in desertification control and explore a new path to global desertification control.

At the opening ceremony, representatives from more than 190 contracting parties from around the world gathered together with their deep expectations for the ecological future of the earth. At present, more than one third of the worlds land area is affected by desertification, and hundreds of millions of people are in deep survival difficulties. Land desertification is ruthlessly eating up farmlands and pastures, exacerbating the chain reaction of poverty and food crisis, and threatening the foundation of ecological balance.

At the opening of the conference, the China Pavilion amazed the audience with its unique opening ceremony. The exterior design of the venue skillfully integrates traditional Chinese cultural elements and desert ecological aesthetics, and the smooth curve is like the clever outline of the sand dune, highlighting the harmonious concept of man and sand; the giant electronic screen at the entrance plays the video of the scenery of the magnificent sand area of China in the loop, which attracts people. In the museum, a super-large dynamic sand table presents the real-time situation of Chinas desertification map in an all-round and three-dimensional way. With the help of light and shadow technology, it clearly shows the vegetation coverage of different regions and the flow trend of sand, as well as the achievements of desertification reversal over the years, becoming an intuitive "epitome" of Chinas sand control journey.

The achievement exhibition area, the exhibition board like a time corridor, to detail the development context of Chinas sand control. The science and technology sand control section is the "highlight" of the China Pavilion, with a wide range of cutting-edge equipment and innovative technologies, highlighting Chinas scientific research strength. The intelligent UAV is equipped with high-precision sowing equipment, independent routes according to terrain and soil data, with one-key sowing, the efficiency is tens of times that of traditional artificial; the desertification monitoring satellite network operation, return massive data in real time, accurate positioning desertification "lesions", and water-saving drip irrigation and new plant sand fixation materials, many technologies have been successfully exported to the "Belt and Road" line, help the sand control action from "coolie" to "intelligent".

The conference will last for several days. The China Pavilion will continue to open its door, gather global wisdom, produce the fruits of cooperation, lead the international community to the ideal of "zero desertification", and leave a strong Chinese mark on the journey of global ecological protection.
