Press release from: Crisis Cognition

Crisis Cognition, a new tech startup leveraging over 14 years of expertise in disaster response and humanitarian aid, is excited to announce its partnership with Harvard Tech for Social Good, a 501(c)(3) organization that connects Harvard talent with nonprofits, government agencies, and social impact organizations to address critical global challenges. Starting in September 2024, a team of Harvard IT students engaged through this framework has been collaborating with Crisis Cognition to enhance its innovative O-LA AI product. The students are working to develop a customized offline AI model and refine dataset integration, key components for O-LA's functionality.

In this partnership, Harvard students bring their technical skills and fresh perspectives to optimize O-LA's offline AI capabilities, enabling the platform to serve communities with limited or disrupted connectivity. By testing and refining dataset integration, they are also ensuring that O-LA can deliver localized insights with precision, supporting crisis-affected or remote populations more effectively.

The founders of Crisis Cognition have expressed their gratitude and admiration for the dedication and skill shown by the Harvard students. "Their expertise and enthusiasm have been a valuable contribution in advancing O-LA's technical foundation, pushing us closer to our mission of delivering real-time, life-saving technology to communities in need," said Evert Bopp, CEO and co-founder.

This partnership developed out of Crisis Cognition's participation in the Tech to the Rescue boot camp held earlier this year, a platform designed to foster collaborations between technology innovators and mission-driven organizations. Both Crisis Cognition and Harvard Tech for Social Good share a commitment to social impact, and this partnership is a testament to how cross-sector initiatives can accelerate meaningful solutions for global challenges.
