PUNE — Cappius Technologies, a U.S. based Digital Business Transformation company, participated at the Symbiosis National Seminar 2016. The seminar was focused on discussing the “Alliance of e-Commerce and Social Media” and How Actionable Intelligence from Big Data Analytics has changed the outlook of e-Commerce players for social media. The seminar was held at Symbiosis, Pune campus on September 24, 2016.

According to a recent survey by ‘Marketing Week Magazine’, 33% of people would like to purchase items directly on Facebook, 27% on Instagram and 20% on Twitter. Not just that, today 74% of all customers relies on Social Media to guide their purchase decision. As Social Media continues to become a vital element of everyday life, it will become more important to evaluate its effectiveness when coupled with e-Commerce.

Surya Putchala – Data Science Head at Cappius Technologies shared perspective about the underlying techniques and tools used for mining big data in e-commerce like Recommender systems, enumerating the computing challenges of personalization, bringing in the use cases of Big data processing, the need and utility.

“Customer satisfaction is utmost important for e-Commerce players to achieve success and stay competitive. Social Media plays a key role to identify the sentiment related to a particular product or service offered to a customer, who can be identified using Big Data Analytics,” said Surya Putchala. Identifying the right product mix is also important to improve sales which can be achieved by using product recommendation engine.
