Local Natural Candle Company Celebrates 3rd Anniversary with Impressive Growth

Kalamazoo Candle Company, manufacturer of all-natural soy wax candles with a local twist, is pleased to announce its third anniversary. Founded by Adam McFarlin in October of 2013, Kalamazoo Candle Company began as an unexpected hobby. After stumbling upon candle making, McFarlin decided to try it out and found himself beginning to obsess over perfecting his craft.

Three years and over 50,000 candles later, Kalamazoo Candle Company has more than doubled in size this year. With candles sold in more than 70 stores across five states, there’s no denying that McFarlin is having an impressive run.

“It’s been fun. Watching this little hobby turn into something so many people enjoy taking home with them. My team and I are fortunate so many like what we do. We take pride in that,” says McFarlin.

To celebrate the third anniversary, McFarlin planned a series of giveaways and promotions throughout Kalamazoo Candle Company’s birthday month of October. Fans were excited to see a new opportunity every day for the first week of October.

Its friendly, flannel-clad founder believes that the success of Kalamazoo Candle Company lies in the authenticity and dedication to quality within the entire operation. Another important aspect is the passionate team he has assembled, who work hard to maintain the products’ positive reputation. “They care about this as much as I do,” he proudly says.

Passionate customer service, as well as a dedication to his craft and just being himself, has helped the entire team produce products that people are enthusiastic to get behind. Kalamazoo Candle Company is adored by its fans who have no issue engaging with the business on social media.

Like his candles, McFarlin’s approach is organic and natural. “We take a lot of pride in the quality of everything we do. For me, I still enjoy the process of coming up with new fragrances and testing them the most. It takes about three months to fully vet the new ones.”

Each candle is a bit of a love letter to the history of Kalamazoo, showcasing a different historical photo on each scent for the 6.5oz candle tins. McFarlin is proud of his city and is happy to extend that pride outside of Kalamazoo, to the rest of Michigan and beyond.
