Clean Design Wins 2017 Communication Arts Magazine Annual Competition
Clean Design, an award-winning branding + advertising agency, today announced it has been chosen as a typography winner in the prestigious Communication Arts Magazine 7th Annual Typography Competition for its unique artistry and creative work involving the 2016-2017 advertising season of Carolina Ballet. Communication Arts Magazine, the leading professional journal for those involved in visual communications, has for 58 years recognized the “best of the best” across categories of advertising, design, photography, illustration, interactive, and typography. This annual jury competition is seen as one of the highest honors bestowed in the graphic design industry.Clean Design won for use of typography as the primary visual element in design and advertising. To help Carolina Ballet promote attendance, Clean Design looked for a common thread between the shows throughout the season. The 2016-2017 season is the “season of seduction,” as the stories, music, and other elements were designed to entice the senses. Given the sensual quality of body painting, the hand-lettered treatment in the design was a natural expression of the theme.
“Winning a spot in a Communication Arts Annual is proof and validation that we’re doing top tier creative work at Clean Design,” said Scott Scaggs, chief creative officer at Clean Design. “Communication Arts awards annuals are among a small set of truly prestigious creative showcases in the world. Now we’ll have to work extra hard not to become irrepressible creative snobs.”
Only 143 winners were selected among nearly 1,900 entries from around the country on both creative merit and execution. All winning work is published each January in a premium print edition of Communication Arts, with more than 30,000 copies distributed worldwide and also available on Amazon.com.
The agency’s winning creative can be viewed here.
