Michigan Football Players Support Light Up St. Ignace: A Community Initiative for Detroit' s Public School Students

On October, 12, 2024, Light Up St. Ignace brings together sports, arts, and entertainment for an unforgettable day of giving and community impact. Featuring members of the 2024 University of Michigan Football Team and celebrity guests, Light Up St. Ignace is a powerful Light Up initiative focused on the spirit of philanthropy, taking a meaningful step toward making a difference in the lives of Detroit's youth.

University of Michigan football players Will Johnson, Donovan Edwards, Mason Graham, Colston Loveland, Alex Orji, Jaishawn Barham, Derrick Moore, and Kenneth Grant, joined by UFC Hall of Famer Chuck Liddell and Top Gun: Maverick actress Lyliana Wray will come together to light the way for positive change to students across Detroit's public schools.

Detroit's 106 public schools serve over 50,000 students, with nearly 60% impacted by out-of-school challenges that develop in high-poverty contexts: limiting resources that affect many aspects of life. Light Up St. Ignace aims to donate 5,000 pairs of socks and shoes - essential footwear - to meet students' basic needs and help alleviate financial hardships that can affect their overall well-being and opportunities for academic advancement.

Through our partnership with LA Gear and LA Gear Gives, SIFF, and with the support of Champions Circle, Light Up St. Ignace is a stepping-stone towards a brighter future.
