The Press Conference of the 14th Smart City and Intelligent Economy Expo was Held in Ningbo, Celebrating the Digital Feast and Continuing a Fourteen-Year Journey

On September 5, the press conference of the 14th Smart City and Intelligent Economy Expo was held in Ningbo. At the event, Li Guanding, the publisher and deputy mayor of Ningbo Municipal People's Government, introduced the highlights of this year's Smart Expo.

As an important communication and cooperation platform for the development of the digital economy, the Smart Expo was founded in 2011 and has gone through 14 years, promoting and witnessing the leapfrog development of the digital economy from big to strong in Zhejiang Province and Ningbo City.

Jointly organized by the Ningbo Municipal People's Government, the Zhejiang Provincial Department of Economy and Information Technology, the China Academy of Information and Communication Technology, the China Information Technology Industry Federation, China Telecom, China Mobile Communications Group Co., Ltd. and China United Network Communications Limited, the 14th Smart Expo will be held from 6 September to 8 September in Ningbo.

The expo is centered around the theme "Digital Empowerment for New Industrialization", including an opening ceremony, extensive exhibition and cutting-edge forums, industry-digital cooperation initiatives, event empowerment, and interactive activities spread across four major sections, which focuses on deepening communication and cooperation in the digital economy, helps the high-quality development of the digital economy at the provincial and municipal levels, and cultivates and expands new quality productive forces.

According to reports, this year's Smart Expo has four highlights:

The first highlight is to display cutting-edge achievements. Spanning 30,000 square meters, the offline exhibition will feature a digital economy pavilion and specialized pavilions dedicated to smart transformation, digital scenarios, future industries, and AI-empowering industries.

With more than 300 exhibitors on board, 40% of them are attending the expo for the first time, including eight world's top 500 companies, nine national manufacturing individual champion enterprises, nearly forty industry's top 100 enterprises and more than 20 first-class scientific research institutes.

The second highlight is the exchange and mutual learning of innovative ideas. This year's Smart Expo focuses on the major strategic deployment of accelerating new industrialization, developing new quality productive forces and promoting actual development needs of the deep integration of the substantial economy and the digital economy. The expo will invite more than 200 experts and entrepreneurs from the digital economy industry, including nearly 10 academicians, to attend and discuss the cutting-edge topics and future directions of the digital economy.

Pan Yunhe, academician of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Ma Yue, chairman of Open Source China, and other industry experts will give keynote speeches on hot topics in the digital economy during the opening ceremony. At the 2024 Ningbo Manufacturing High-quality Development and Intelligent Economy Strategy Advisory Committee Expert Consultation Conference, more than 10 industry experts, including academicians such as Zheng Qinghua, Yang Huayong, and Gao Wen, will provide suggestions for Ningbo to empower new industrialization with artificial intelligence.

The third highlight is the precise docking of industrial cooperation. This year's Smart Expo will also have many highlights in the release and contract signing sessions: the China Academy of Information and Communications Technology will release the "Research Report on Interpretation of New Quality Productive Forces from the Perspective of Digital Economy" at the opening ceremony; China Communications Industry Association will publish the "Research Report on Internet of Things Index (IoTI) in Chinese Cities"; Ningbo Digital Industry Group Co., Ltd., Digiwin Software and Kingdee Software will launch the latest products and solutions. Firstly launched in Ningbo, these achievements will not only further expand the influence of the Smart Expo, but also further consolidate the digital economy industry chain and strengthen the ecological chain of innovation resource allocation.

In the contract signing session, about thirty digital economy-related projects will be signed this year, with a total value of 35 billion yuan, including integrated circuit design and fabrication, robot design and production, intelligent connected cockpit, new energy and other fields, which fully demonstrates the broad prospects and unlimited potential of the deep integration of digital economy and traditional industries.

The fourth highlight is the development dividend and people sharing. This year's Smart Expo is deeply concerned about the improvement of digital literacy and skills and committed to making the well-being of the digital economy widely benefit all sectors of society.

The content of the exhibition area is more experiential, for example, China Mobile uses 5G and all-optical network to create an intelligent blueprint for smart homes, covering from smart security to health monitoring. China Telecom's smart community, smart elderly care and other applications have greatly improved the convenience of people's lives through the deep integration of the Internet of Things and big data. China Unicom's low-altitude economy, intelligent network and other exhibition areas will combine the latest technologies such as 5G-A and artificial intelligence to showcase new applications of urban digital intelligence development such as "vehicle-road-cloud integration". Huawei's HarmonyOS Auto is leading a new trend of mobility with intelligent connected vehicles, opening a new chapter in digital mobility. This year, the light show of "Digital Sanjiangkou Night" will be continued, bringing citizens an immersive visual experience of online and offline integration and virtual and real interaction.
