World-leading peace activist shares her insights in new podcast interview
In this new episode, Dr Elworthy shares her own journey of confronting violence with dialogue and understanding and talks about how we can work towards creating a world where peace is possible. Simon says: "It was a real honour to interview Scilla and hear her views on the importance of purpose and compassion in the shadow of the global challenges we all face. The way too that Scilla explained the importance of empathy in resolving conflicts and fostering collaboration, aligns closely with the themes of my own work and the upcoming talk with Renee Smith on "Leading with Love." Dr Elworthy founded the Oxford Research Group in 1982 to open up effective dialogue on nuclear weapons between both policy makers and campaigners.
She was awarded the Niwano Peace Prize in 2003 and was instrumental in the creation of The Elders, a group of high profile peace activists, acting as an adviser to Richard Branson and Peter Gabriel. Her latest book The Mighty Heart aims to help readers learn to resolve conflict at all levels of their lives, including with themselves, their family and within the workplace. Simon adds: "Scilla's work towards creating sustainable peace is truly groundbreaking and I'm so pleased to be able to share her wisdom and insights with my audience. Our conversation is essential listening for anyone passionate about making a real impact in the world."
