Husband and wife team win Gold and Silver Awards for their YA

"Deluge: The People That Melt in the Rain #1," A new YA graphic novel by prolic author and illustrator team Mike Dubisch and Carolyn Watson-Dubisch from New York, has won both gold and silver Readers Favorite Awards for 2024!
Sep 5, 2024 - Mike Dubisch and Carolyn Watson-Dubisch are thrilled to discover that their YA graphic novel "Deluge, The People That Melt in The Rain 1" has won a gold award for illustration and a silver award for comics and graphic novels in the Readers Favorites Annual Book Awards.

Thousands of titles from all over the world are enter into this book awards contest, which is the largest of all the international literary competitions.

"The unique storyline and the amazing characters make this novel captivating and memorable. My favorite part is the illustrations. The art gives it an eerie vibe that perfectly corresponds with the bizarre nature of the story. The characters' emotions were easy to read, and little details like the black cat, the painting, and Mrs. Winston's trinkets formed clues that could only be visually understood. I enjoyed this story and hope to read more books from these authors. This is just the beginning of Laura's journey; more is yet to come. Great work." - Reviewed by Luwi Nyakansaila for Readers' Favorite

In the book, 12 year old Laura was just a normal girl from Seattle when her mother decided to move to a mysterious town in the mid-west. The moment they arrive in their new home hundreds of frogs rain from the sky. Her quirky new neighbor has a house full of knickknacks and odd tiny creatures beckoning from the shadows, and there's a terrible curse on the town that makes every summer storm a life threatening event. Welcome to the town of Deluge.

"Deluge will appeal to readers young and old, both for its interesting story, appealing characters with real problems, supernatural and mysterious aspects, and beautiful graphics" -Independent Book Review

Deluge is just the rst book from "The People That Melt in The Rain", the second book, Ghosts was just released this past July and made it's debut at San Diego Comic Con. Ghosts has also been well received by readers and reviewers.

"My 10-year-old son, who usually hates reading, absolutely loved this book. He was instantly hooked by the mystery of Laura being transported into a painting and the suspense of navigating a Seattle that's not quite the one she remembers. It's rare to see him so engrossed in a story, and this one kept him turning the pages until the very end." - Amazon review for Ghosts
