ReadSpeaker collaborates with Qualitus to develop ILIAS

ReadSpeaker, the most trusted independent digital voice partner for educational institutions and innovative brands worldwide, has collaborated with established ILIAS partner Qualitus to develop a state-of-the-art text-to-speech (TTS) plugin for the ILIAS community.

ReadSpeaker has been providing text-to-speech solutions and voice-enhanced learning tools for 25 years to more than 12,000 customers globally. Now the company's ethical AI-powered voices and speech-enabled learning tools will be seamlessly available within the ILIAS platform, allowing learners to select and listen to content in over 200 voices and 50 languages with the click of a button.

By working with Qualitus to develop the plugin, ReadSpeaker has ensured that a strict respect of European data protection legislation is maintained.

Roy Lindemann, CMO at ReadSpeaker, said: "At ReadSpeaker, we know how important data security is, so we've deliberately worked with a trusted ILIAS partner to ensure we respect data protection laws, while achieving our ultimate goal of making education better for everyone. We believe that everyone deserves an equal chance to learn and succeed. This new plugin makes learning more accessible and engaging for all students, creating a more inclusive and effective educational experience."

In addition to being able to access content as audio, learners using ILIAS will also have access to tools that can personalize their learning experience, such as adapting the reading speed of the voices; highlighting and modifying font, text size and color; looking up selected words and more,

Stanislav Wischniak, Head of Software Development, Qualitus GmbH, said: "Qualitus is convinced: Accessibility is not a decorative accessory, accessibility is a human right. Just as learning is not a luxury, but a fundamental human need. In this respect, accessible digital learning cannot be considered a secondary priority, but a priority. With this responsibility in mind, we have developed the ReadSpeaker plugin, giving all learners the opportunity to engage with learning content in exactly the way that suits their individual disposition.
