Awards were established to celebrate sector’s successes

Kenya Power, Eskom Uganda, the Nile Basin Initiative, Songas and Ethiopian Electric Power are just some of the region’s leading lights in the power industry that are finalists in this year’s East African Power Industry Awards that will take place during the East African Power Industry Convention (EAPIC) on 21 September at the Hilton Hotel in Nairobi. Well known media personality and CNBC Africa television news anchor Bonney Tunya will be the MC during the awards gala dinner.

With just over two weeks left until the winners are revealed, the finalists of the second, annual East African Power Industry Awards have been announced following an extensive review of the esteemed panel of judges who have scored the individuals, companies and projects based on the excellent work they have been doing in the power sector during 2015/2016.

These prestigious industry awards will welcome 200 of East Africa’s most distinguished power industry professionals, many of them long standing attendees of the East African Power Industry Convention (EAPIC). The awards were established to celebrate the outstanding achievements of companies, projects and individuals that are going above and beyond and are working tirelessly to improve and develop the energy sectors in East Africa.

Regional power gathering
The 18th edition of EAPIC is expected to gather more than 2000 visitors from more than 30 countries, including from the region’s leading power utilities, large industries, project developers and investors as well as dozens of technology and service providers who will showcase their products at the KICC in Nairobi from 21-22 September. Lucy Electric, a global secondary distribution leader in the electricity sector, is this year’s platinum sponsor, while Stanbic Bank is the gold sponsor.
