IMDO Announces Poster Presentation Grants

San Diego (January 21, 2008) – International Myotonic Dystrophy Organization (IMDO) announced a new grant program to encourage and assist medical students, physicians residents, fellows or researchers to present research projects involving the study of Myotonic Dystrophy in poster format at major national or international medical conventions.

Grants will be awarded between $100-$500 (USD) to be used exclusively to sponsor poster presentations at either national or international conferences addressing Myotonic Dystrophy.

“Myotonic Dystrophy is the most common form of adult muscular dystrophy and affects nearly 1 out of every 8,000 people worldwide,” said Richard Weston, president of IMDO. “It is extremely important for us as an organization to do all that we can to ensure that progress is made on the research front.”

Grant applications can be requested at grantcommittee@myotonicdystrophy.org.
