Philanthropist Jongman Park Champions KOPINO Children with New Initiative: La Casa FilKo

Renowned entrepreneur and philanthropist Jongman Park unveils La Casa FilKo, a non-profit organization dedicated to uplifting the lives of KOPINO children in the Philippines.

Mr. Park, a Korean native, arrived in the Philippines in 1996 to spearhead a PEZA facility for a Korean paper manufacturer. His impressive 28-year journey in the country transcends his initial role. He went on to establish Park Apparel, a thriving textile engineering and apparel company launched in 1998. Under his leadership, Park Apparel flourished, employing over 2,000 Filipinos and supplying prominent American brands like DKNY.

Mr. Park's expertise extends beyond textiles. From 2007 to 2015, he leveraged his knowledge in material science while overseeing the implementation of a manufacturing plant for Lime, formerly known as Finetex EnE, a Korean material science company. This further demonstrates his unwavering commitment to propelling innovation and growth within the Philippines.

Driven by a deep sense of gratitude for the Philippines, his adopted home for nearly three decades, Mr. Park recognized a pressing social issue - the plight of KOPINO children. These children are born from Korean fathers, often sex tourists, and abandoned by their Filipino mothers. Fuelled by a strong sense of responsibility as a successful Korean in the Philippines, Mr. Park established La Casa FilKo to tackle this critical challenge.

La Casa FilKo aspires to empower tens of thousands of KOPINO children residing in the Philippines. The organization will provide vital support through vocational training, educational opportunities, and resources that nurture personal and professional development.

"The Philippines has embraced me as its own for a substantial part of my life," Mr. Park said. "While I've achieved success here, I am acutely aware of the hardships faced by KOPINO children. La Casa FilKo is my way of expressing gratitude to this amazing country and advocating for these vulnerable youngsters. We are committed to equipping them with the tools they need to build brighter futures."
