Orlando, FL - June 10, 2024 - This past weekend, the Saigon Night Market brought the vibrant energy of Vietnamese culture to Orlando, lighting up Festival Park with an unforgettable celebration. Held on June 8th and 9th, the market featured a diverse array of Vietnamese street food, performances by popular Asian artists, and engaging activities for all ages, making it one of Florida's largest Asian festivals.
A Feast for the Senses
The market offered a culinary journey through Vietnam with over 80 food trucks and vendors serving delicious dishes. Attendees enjoyed savory pho, crispy banh mi, sweet che, and mouth-watering banh xeo, among other traditional Vietnamese delicacies. With luck, you've heard of these dishes, but on the off-chance you haven't, let's talk about the crispy banh mi: These delightful Vietnamese sandwiches combine a crispy, airy baguette with a savory filling. Traditionally, banh mi includes a mix of marinated meats like grilled pork or chicken, pate, and pickled vegetables, topped with fresh cilantro, cucumbers, and spicy chilies, offering a perfect blend of textures and flavors. The rich flavors and aromas created an authentic street food experience that delighted everyone.
Endless Summer Festival Highlights
The Saigon Night Market's Endless Summer Festival was filled with exciting activities, including the PHO KING Contest on Saturday and the Spicy Hot Dog Contest on Sunday. Held on stage at Festival Park, 2911 E Robinson St, Orlando, FL 32803, each contest selected 10 participants from online entries and 10 from attendees at the festival. Contestants had the chance to win a trophy and a $300 prize.
Entertainment and Community Spirit
In addition to the culinary delights, the Saigon Night Market was a hub of entertainment. Music artists, a live DJ, and dance performances, including traditional dragon dances, captivated the audience. Children enjoyed activities such as waterslides and inflatables, while families participated in raffles for a chance to win exciting prizes.
Despite the intense heat and being short-staffed, the event was a success thanks to the tremendous efforts of EMTs, police officers, city park rangers, volunteers, and last-minute workers. The Saigon Night Market team expressed their gratitude on social media, stating, "Orlando, we LOVE you guys. No event we've thrown has gone perfect, and we always roll with the punches to make it happen for everyone's enjoyment."

A community member named Gary Mancuso made the request, "Please do this event in the cooler months!" bringing attention to a prevalent complaint among guests about the extreme heat and the potential drought that Florida may be experiencing, which could result in a turbulent hurricane season.
