Cannes Film Festival: Jeff Hamilton Honored as "Influential Celebrity Fashion Artist" by the 2024 WIBA Awards
The legendary fashion designer Jeff Hamilton was honored with the prestigious WIBA World Award as "Influential Celebrity Fashion Artist" at the sixth edition of the WIBA Awards, held on May 24 at the Hotel Martinez in Cannes, during the Cannes Film Festival.
The WIBA Awards (World Influencers and Bloggers Awards) honor personalities from the social media world whose mission is to change the world. This annual event attracts hundreds of leading international content creators and is recognized as the largest gathering of viral talents and pioneers of digital longevity. The evening's program includes a cocktail, a gala dinner, an awards ceremony, and an exceptional performance by Sonique.
Since its inception, the WIBA Award has been the first and only international award to celebrate the work of social media personalities in various categories. Forbes magazine described the event in 2023 as "the most important networking event on the Cote d'Azur, bringing together the protagonists of viral moments and pioneers of digital longevity." During his speech, Jeff Hamilton thanked Maria Grazhina, Mani Nordine, and David Serero (who is currently filming a documentary on Jeff Hamilton's Moroccan origins).
Jeff Hamilton, a man whose journey from Morocco to Paris to the United States is as inspiring as his designs, began his career in the fashion world after studying mathematics and physics. Upon emigrating to the United States, he quickly established himself as a major figure in fashion design, becoming the first licensee for Guess Jeans for men. His leather jackets, designed as works of art, marked the beginning of a nearly four-decade-long career, positioning him as one of the most iconic and recognized jacket designers in the world. Hamilton gained fame in the 1990s through licensing agreements with all the major sports leagues. His NBA championship jackets are particularly famous, having been worn by Michael Jordan and the Chicago Bulls during their six titles, as well as by other legends like Tim Duncan, Kobe Bryant, and LeBron James. Jeff also created the official jackets for the NBA's 50th and 75th-anniversary teams.
Jeff Hamilton's creations have transcended the realm of fashion, becoming iconic symbols of popular culture. They have appeared in Guns N' Roses videos, episodes of "The Fresh Prince of Bel-Air," and TV series like "Martin." He has also designed jackets for personalities such as Michael Jackson, Madonna, Mike Tyson, and Muhammad Ali. Today, Jeff's designs continue to be in high demand, with collaborations and special orders for clients such as Taylor Swift, Kevin Hart, Drake, Travis Scott, and Amazon Music. His legacy as a designer is marked by his unique and enduring contributions to fashion and popular culture.
