Visual Artist Daniel Garbade (Zurich, 1957) Showcases Work at "G de hombre (Gay)" Exhibition in Madrid
Madrid, May 29, 2024 - Renowned visual artist Daniel Garbade will participate in the upcoming exhibition "G de hombre (Gay)" at StudioRGF Arriaza11 in Madrid. This unique art space will explore the vast spectrum of homoerotic fantasies through micro-exhibitions featuring visual arts, including painting, drawing, collage, and photography. The exhibition runs from May 30th to June 29th, 2024.One of the highlights of this exhibition is an extravagant tribute to the legendary artist "Tom of Finland," a project curated by Tero Puha and organized by the Ibero-American Institute of Finland in Madrid. Sponsored by the Embassy of Finland, the tribute will feature contributions from Tero Puha and Edith Hammar, who are recognized as heirs of Touko Laaksonen (Tom of Finland).
Daniel Garbade's notable piece in the exhibition, "Love in Times of War," portrays two soldiers in an intimate embrace. The soldiers, depicted with their shirts removed but still wearing helmets, gloves, and thick pants, share a passionate kiss. The composition, rendered in a black-and-white palette against a stark white background, powerfully evokes a fantasy that challenges traditional notions of masculinity and military identity. The tender yet powerful embrace suggests themes of longing, connection, and defiance against social norms, creating a striking emotional impact.
The "G de hombre (Gay)" exhibition promises to be thought-provoking and visually stunning, offering a deep dive into the homoerotic imagination and celebrating the works of influential artists like Tom of Finland.
Daniel Garbade's participation from June 6th to June 8th adds a significant dimension to this exploration, bringing his unique perspective and artistic prowess to the forefront.
