Advanced Control Systems™ Selected to present at IEEE Mexico RVPAI 2016 on ‘REMOTE TERMINAL UNIT UPGRADES: THE GE D20’

ACAPULCO, Mexico—July 20, 2016—Advanced Control Systems (ACS™), a global provider of smart grid automation technology, was selected to present at the IEEE Mexico RVPAI 2016 conference in Acapulco, Mexico. Miguel Bengla, Substation Automation Product Manager, ACS will speak on “REMOTE TERMINAL UNIT UPGRADES: THE GE D20” and discuss the challenges utilities face when dealing with aging automation systems, and in particular the GE D20 RTU.

According to Mr. Bengla, “Utilities are facing real problems when dealing with legacy equipment, specifically legacy substation automation. When the aging remote terminal unit (RTU) starts getting unreliable, and therefore unsafe, and the original manufacturer is no longer in business or can’t provide the needed parts or support, utilities must act quickly.”

Therefore, a simple RTU upgrade is, in many cases, a better choice than an expensive and time-consuming full replacement.”
