Driver sponsor Milestone Supplies supports Gavin Thomson’s move into Endurance racing
2012’s Quaife Motorsport News Champion, Gavin Thomson, has announced that he will be moving into endurance-based races with the continued support of sponsor Milestone Supplies.Having achieved monumental success as a self-funded sprint racer, Essex-based driver Gavin has decided to move to longer races after switching from his title-winning Peugeot 205 to a SEAT Leon at an event that took place at Brand’s Hatch in May this year.
Suffering breakages with the Peugeot during pre-season testing, Gavin was keen to try the Leon, which requires a very different driving style.
Quoted in Motosport News in May, after handling the car for the second time in the rounds at Brands Hatch, Gavin explained the differences between the two cars:
“The SEAT is left-hand drive with a paddleshift, but the big differences are a long wheelbase and it’s really heavy compared with the Peugeot.
“It’s much easier to drive than the Peugeot up to a certain level, but very hard to get the maximum from it.”
Matthew Coussens, Sales Director at Milestone, is excited to see how Gavin will rise to the distinctive challenges presented by endurance races. He and his company will continue to sponsor this talented driver in partnership with Gavin’s team Redline Tuning.
Fans and enthusiasts can next see Gavin race at the Classic Thunder event, which will take place across the weekend of 30th – 31st July 2016. Gavin will be using the Classic Thunder race to gain more experience in the SEAT.
