Carrie Hamn, Director of Talent Acquisition at DCS Corporation, was recently selected as Top Director of the Year in Talent Acquisition 2024 by the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP) for her outstanding leadership, dedication, and commitment to the industry.

Inclusion with the International Association of Top Professionals is an honor in itself; only a few members in each discipline are chosen for this distinction. These special honorees are distinguished based on their professional accomplishments, academic achievements, leadership abilities, longevity in the field, other affiliations, and contributions to their communities. All honorees are invited to attend the IAOTP annual award gala at the end of this year for a night to honor their achievements.

With more than two decades of experience in the Human Resources industry, Carrie Hamn has certainly proven herself as an expert in her field of talent acquisition. As a dynamic, results driven leader, Carrie is genuinely dedicated to assisting others in discovering the ideal role that aligns with their unique abilities in Human Resources.

Carrie is a critical figure in DCS, a mid-sized, 100% employee-owned firm that delivers innovative technology, engineering, and management solutions to Department of Defense and national security organizations. Carrie, the Director of Talent Acquisition, oversees the company's talent acquisition strategy and recruitment functions. She develops and executes recruitment strategies that align with the company's business objectives, creates departmental goals, and provides leadership and budgets. Carrie collaborates with senior leaders to identify staffing needs and ensures DCS attracts and retains top talent. She plans and coordinates DCS participation in career fairs, college recruitment drives, and open house opportunities to build relationships with the best talent. Carrie leads a team that develops sourcing strategies and recruiting plans, identifying top candidates and negotiating offers. She selects, trains, and evaluates team members to provide expert, timely, and customer-focused recruitment services. Carrie monitors recruitment statistics, sets benchmarks, and develops action plans to ensure success.

Carrie's impressive repertoire of prior roles have included but not limited to her position as a Director of Talent Acquisition at Halfaker and Associates, LLC (now part of SAIC). She doubled the company's size over three years by hiring hundreds of employees. In 2013, she joined DCS as a Technical Recruiter, supporting the Air-Sea Forces Sector. In mid-2017, she transitioned into a management role and assumed leadership responsibility for the Recruiting organization. DCS has grown by more than 100% since 2014 demonstrating the Talent Acquisition Team's dedication to finding and hiring exceptional talent despite a challenging labor market.

Before embarking on her current career path, while still in high school, Carrie started her professional journey in 1996. She was Human Resources Intern at the United States Bureau of Land Management. She acquired valuable experience in HR projects such as recruitment, employee relations, and HR policies, which set the stage for her professional development. Through this experience, she cultivated vital skills and acquired a thorough comprehension of HR operations.

Throughout her illustrious career, Carrie has received many awards and accolades and has been recognized worldwide for her accomplishments. This year she will be considered for the Empowered Woman Award and to be featured in TIP (Top Industry Professionals) Magazine. She will be honored at IAOTP's annual awards gala at Nashville's Magnificent Opryland Hotel this December for her selection as Top Director of the Year in Talent Acquisitions 2024. In addition, as the Director of Talent Acquisition at DCS. Most recently named among the Top 10 Inspiring Business Women to Follow in 2024, she previously won the OnCon Icon Award, with recognition in the Top 50 Talent Acquisition Professional Category in the World, in 2021, 2022 and 2023. In addition, DCS won the Top 50 Talent Acquisition Team OnCon Icon award for 2023. Carrie is also a finalist for the Top Talent Acquisition Professional Award for 2024.

The President of the International Association of Top Professionals (IAOTP), Stephanie Cirami, stated: "Choosing Carrie for this honor was an easy decision for our panel to make. She is inspirational, influential, and a true visionary and thought leader. We cannot wait to meet her and celebrate her accomplishments at this year's gala."

Looking back, Ms Hamn attributes her success to her perseverance, work ethic, and the mentors she has had along the way. When not working, she enjoys traveling and spending time with her family. In the future, she hopes to inspire and influence those getting into the field and provide them with opportunities for success.
