Rosenergoatom Has Started the Construction of Kursk NPP-2
The Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC, which is responsible for operation of all nuclear power plants in Russian Federation, has started the construction of Kursk NPP-2 (KuNPP-2).According to the Director of Kursk NPP Vyacheslav Fedyukin, volume of investments in the project exceeds 6 billion USD. The annual tax payments to the budget from construction of Kursk NPP-2 are expected to be in the amount of 4.2 million USD.
In 2016 the volume of investments will be about 151 million USD (during the preparatory stage in 2015 it was 42.4 million USD).
Kursk NPP-2 will be built to replace the retiring from operation existing units of Kursk NPP. It is planned to construct four power units of Kursk NPP-2 with VVER-TOI reactors of new generation. Each unit of the future station will have installed capacity of 1,255 GW.
Commissioning of first two units of NPP-2 is planned to be synchronized with the decommissioning of operating power units. The construction cost of units №1 and №2 Kursk NPP-2 until 2023 is valued at 3.4 billion USD.
As it was reported, the pre-commissioning of the power unit №1 is planned for 2020, №2 – in 2023, №3 – in 2024, №4 – in 2026.
The Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC is a developer and technical customer of the object, while JSC NIAEP is a general designer and contractor of Kursk NPP-2.
The Rosenergoatom Concern OJSC is the electric power division of the State Corporation ROSATOM.
