On February 16, 2022, Robert sat in Representative Richard Smith's office, witnessing firsthand the legacy of service and transparency exemplified by the late Congressman. Inspired by Representative Smith's dedication to District 139, Robert felt compelled to continue his work, thus launching his bid for office exactly two years later.

Robert's commitment transcends party lines, as evidenced by his decision to run as an Independent. With a platform centered on being the voice of the people, he pledges to represent all constituents of District 139, regardless of political affiliation, mirroring the integrity and dedication he displayed throughout his military career.

Robert, alongside his wife Radiah and their four children, embodies a family dedicated to service. With Radiah's retired Army Officer status and their children's contributions to the nation, the Mallard family epitomizes a legacy of service and commitment to others.
