Orlando visitors double in 20 years to hit new record

It’s incredible to think that over the last 20 years, annual visitor numbers to Orlando, Florida, have more than doubled.

Back in 1995, 32.4million visitors came to Orlando, while figures just released show that in 2015 a record 66.1million were drawn by its world-class theme parks, entertainment, restaurants, shops, stores and more.

The all-time high, announced by tourism body VisitOrlando, represents a 5.5% rise over 2014 and again means that Orlando is the number one US visitor destination.

Visit Orlando President and CEO George Aguel, says the figure is an amazing accomplishment. "This new milestone and rapid growth over the past two decades is a result of having a tourism industry and community partners that are focused on growth and investment, dedication to the needs of our visitors and the global marketing and sales efforts of our Visit Orlando team and member companies."

Orange County Mayor Teresa Jacobs, says, “We're so proud to break another national record and again be named the top visitor destination for the US.

"With our superb convention center and culture of hospitality, world-class theme parks, family-friendly entertainment and luxury dining and lodging amenities, it's no surprise that Central Florida remains the top destination for business, family and leisure guests."

A major contributor to the increase is the fact that passenger number at Orlando International Airport rose by more than 72%, reaching 38.8million in 2015.

Garrett Kenny, Chief Executive Officer of leading Central Florida developer and agent, Feltrim Group, says Orlando’s record-breaking visitor numbers is a major benefit for Central Florida’s buy-to-let real estate investors.

“The fact that Orlando has hit the headlines again for its record visitor numbers is not lost on international property investors who are looking to maximise their rental income.
